Craigellachie ist eine Destillerie die vielen nur als Schatten am Autofenster bewußt wird, wenn man auf der Fahrt nach Dufftown in dem Örtchen Craigellachie an der gleichnamigen Destillerie vorbei fährt. Erstmals gibt es nun Originalabfüllungen dieser Destillerie - nunmehr gleich vier (13 Jahre, 17 Jahre, 19 Jahre und 23 Jahre).

Hier nun eine Abfüllung aus der "Exceptional Cask"-Serie von Craigellachie. 2007 destilliert, lag der Whisky in einem ex-Oloroso-Fass und wurde nach 15 Jahren am 03.Oktober 2022 auf nur 372 Flaschen gezogen. In Fassstärke, weder gefärbt noch kühlgefiltert.

Bottlers notes:

A light touch of Oloroso cask has bestowed notes of  toasted marshmallows, caramelised pineapples and toasted cereals.

eine Meinung:

Nase: It's a fantastic nose. Very sweet, oaky and spicy nose. Old cask, cooked berries, plums and dried figs. Very similar to smelling a jar of jam in your grandma’s. Add a little water, tobacco and burnt caramel. Old Spice warehouse, cumin.

Geschmack: Its not that sweet on the palate but high abv needs water. Orange peels, wet oak, burnt rubber. Strong bitter-umami aromas. Sour blueberry, chocolate.

Finish: Oily and spicy. It's a long lasting finish. Nuts and chilli, very hot but soft texture. Burnt orange peel aftertaste.
