Der Luceo ist einer von vier Whisky aus der Fortuna Merita Collection, einer Reihe von Whiskys ohne Altersangabe. Jeder dieser vier Whiskys ist in einem anderen Sherry-Fass-Typ der Gonzalez Byass Bodega gefinished worden. Mit dieser Bodega macht Dalmore schon über hundert Jahre Geschäfte. Der Luceo ist in first-fill Apostoles Sherry-Fässern nachgereift, dass sind Fässer in denen für 30 Jahre ein süßlicher Palo Cortado reifen durfte. Verantwortlich (wie für fast alles bei Dalmore) für die Fortuna Merita Reihe ist Richard "The Nose" Paterson.

Bottlers notes:

Nase: cognac soaked Madeira cake, tangy fruits, teacle tart, crushed almonds and praline chocolate.
Geschmack: parkin cake, pistachio, plums, frangipan, colombian coffee and Sanguinello blood oranges.

Finish: maple syrup, demerara sugar, sweet muscatel and gingerbread.

unsere Meinung:

Nase: eindeutig ein Sherry-Fass, aber nicht so trocken wie erwartet, sondern ganz im Gegenteil eher die süßlich-würzige Variante; Rohrzucker und weiche Nougat-Schoki; aber auch viel Honig

Geschmack: sehr weich, eine wilde Mischung aus geschälten Pistazien, Rosinen, Kaffee-Noten und eine weihnachtliche Würzigkeit; schöne unterschwellige aber nicht tot-zu-kriegende Honigsüße

Finish: lang und toll, leicht trocken und nussig/würzig, süffig und überzeugend; toller Whisky.

weitere Meinung:

Nase: indeed really sweet, with plenty of creamy toffee and caramel notes up front. Cherries in syrup, as well as almond cake. Some mocha and raisins. It reminds me a bit of the Nomad whisky, although in a single malt version and with a more elegant profile.

Geschmack: really soft, yet there’s a dark, slightly bitter side that stands out. Coffee, lots of roasted nuts (hazelnuts, walnuts). Gingery notes as well as Seville oranges. Cinnamon powder and dark cocoa. A bit tangy but really fine.

Finish: on the short side, with the same aromas and a warm spicy glow.
