Douglas Laing's Scallywag ist ein Small Batch bottling das nach Aussage der Abfüller nur die besten Whiskys aus der Speyside verwendet - darunter unter anderen  - Mortlach, Macallan and Glenrothes. Abgefüllt wird das was sich heute ein Blended Malt nennen muss (früher war das mal ein Vatted Malt, nämlich ein Blend einzig aus Malt Whiskys) mit 46% und ist nicht kühl-gefiltert. Douglas Laing produziert immer nur kleine badges, unter Verwendung von ca. 40% first-fill Sherry Fässern und einem Schwung an Bourbon Hogsheads.

Bottlers notes:

Nase: Sweetly spiced character woven onto delicious vanilla.

Geschmack: sweet stewed fruit, Christmas pudding, dark chocolate and spices.

Finish: zesty orange; hints of sweet tobacco, cocoa and rich fruit cake

weitere Meinung:

Nase: Sweetness jumps up like an excited puppy. Icing sugar, sultanas and candied ginger. A few hints of grain here and there, but sweetness steals the show.

Geschmack: The sweetness surprisingly retreats, revealing nutmeg and cereal. Vanilla comes in near the end. Cinnamon too, giving it a prickle of spice.

Finish: A pinch of oak spice joins the vanilla and sherry for the finish. (masterofmalt)
